Awaken Your Senses: Sensory kits are items meant to reduce overstimulation, often containing noise canceling headphones and multiple fidget toys. They help a child reach the level of alertness they need to carry out a specific task. For my Girl Scouts Gold Award project, my main goal is to heighten the awareness of Sensory Processing Dysfunction (SPD) in the pediatric community, and to bring tools and support to the forefront. I have chosen a private, local elementary school and multiple libraries on Long Island to educate those who are around children and donate a sensory kit to have on hand. - Angelina Borg, Girl Scout
