Spirit Bear is about saving the Canadian forests and the bears that call these forests home. Kermode bears are a subspecies of the black bear and are the national symbol of British Columbia. They are called “spirit” or “ghost” bears because they have white fur, are extremely rare, and are sacred to the local population. Simon Jackson started the Spirit Bear Youth Coalition as a teenager to save their home from logging. Learn about Simon’s fight to save the endangered spirit bear from extinction by going up against the foresting industry.
